Washington.- Iran accused this Tuesday the president of United States, Donald Trump, of promoting political destabilization, inciting violence and threatening the sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security of the country, according to a letter sent to the United Nations Security Council (UN).

In the letter, the Iranian ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, maintained that "the United States and the Israeli regime have a direct and undeniable legal responsibility for the consequent loss of innocent civilian lives, particularly among young people." The letter was also sent to the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, and it comes in response to a social media post made by Trump earlier that same Tuesday. Tehran considers that message from the US president contributes to escalating tensions and violates fundamental principles of international law, by encouraging actions that endanger the stability and security of the country. The protests that began on the 28th reached their peak last Thursday with an explosion of demonstrations in practically the entire country. Human Rights Activists (HRA) said today that they had confirmed the death of a total of 1,850 people, including 9 minors, in the 17 days of anti-government protests in Iran and also more than 16,700 detentions, according to what was published in its news agency HRANA.
