Authorities clarify homicide of man found dead in Manoguayabo; four people arrested

The Santo Domingo Oeste Regional of the National Police clarified in record time the homicide of Rufo García, whose body was found on the morning of Monday, January 27, 2026, near the Manoguayabo River, on the main street of the Lechería Caballona sector, Santo Domingo Oeste municipality.

The deceased, between 50 and 60 years of age, presented multiple stab wounds, according to the death certificate No. 0105596. The discovery was made by residents of the area, who immediately alerted the National Emergency and Security Attention System 9-1-1.

Thanks to the rapid, coordinated, and effective action of the agents of the Department of Crimes Against Persons (Homicides), supported by the immediate analysis of the surveillance cameras of the 9-1-1 system, the authorities managed to identify the escape route and continuously follow up on the case. In less than 24 hours, and in coordination with investigators from the province of Montecristi, Luis José Santana de los Santos, Wander Polanco de Jesús (a) “La Mácula”, a 14-year-old minor identified by the initials R.C.R. (a) “Caco Block”, and Anamaria Corniel Santana (a) “Ahira”, were arrested, who were intercepted in the act of committing a crime on board the vehicle stolen from the victim.

Preliminary investigations establish that those involved contacted the victim through deception to carry out an alleged transfer to the Las Américas International Airport, subsequently taking him to an isolated area of Manoguayabo where he was gagged, assaulted, and killed.

Subsequently, they attempted to sell the vehicle for the sum of RD$250,000, being thwarted by the timely intervention of the authorities. The detainees will be presented before the Public Ministry in the coming hours, while the National Police highlights the immediate response capacity of the Santo Domingo Oeste Regional in the fight against serious crimes.
