Energy System is only receiving 648 MW out of 2,587 scheduled

At noon this Monday, the National Interconnected Energy System (SENI) is only receiving 648 MW, when it is supposed to be receiving 2,587 MW, to supply the country's demand.

Between 10:50 am and 11:50 am, instantaneous generation went from 2,671 MW to 648 MW, with a scheduled generation of 2,587 MW, reflecting a sharp drop in generation.

The situation is due to the chain outage of several power generation plants in the system, causing a massive blackout in different areas of the country.

Energy authorities are working on identifying the fault, to subsequently seek a solution.

It is recalled that on November 11th, a blackout occurred due to a fault originating in the transmission system.

On that occasion, the blackout was due to the outages of the generation units of the Electricity Company of San Pedro de Macorís (CESPM) and the Quisqueya Electric Power Plant of that demarcation, which triggered a cascade effect in EDAC, AES Andrés and the other transmission and electricity generation plants.
