Santo Domingo.- This Saturday, June 7th, the composer, singer, and global icon of Latin American music, Juan Luis Guerra, celebrates his 68th birthday.
The award-winning artist, considered one of the most respected and influential figures in the music industry, turns 68, embraced by faith and enjoying the love, support, and affection of the public, the same public that has accompanied him in 40 years of an admired and inspiring musical career.

Juan Luis Guerra, also known as “The master of Dominican music”, has been considered “Ambassador of Dominican identity,” around the world, carrying merengue and bachata through his musical pieces; native genres of the Dominican Republic, but also fusions with various rhythms including jazz, salsa and pop.
His style, talent, and admired projection have contributed to the permanence of his name in the history of Dominican music, being an artist emulated by new generations who consider him a role model beyond the artistic realm.
His musical career began with the album Soplando (1984), along with the group that would later be known as Juan Luis Guerra y 4.40, a reference to standard musical tuning.
Married to Nora Vega, with whom he has two children, Guerra declares himself a reserved and spiritual person. In 1991, he founded the Juan Luis Guerra Foundation, dedicated to humanitarian causes in the Dominican Republic. He has led benefit concerts such as “A Song of Hope for Haiti” and has been designated UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for his social work.
