Washington,.- U.S. President Donald Trump stated this Tuesday that anyone who disagrees with him on monetary policy "will never be president" of the Federal Reserve, a comment that comes amid deliberations over who will be his candidate to be the next president of the central bank, replacing Jerome Powell.
"Anyone who disagrees with me will never be Fed chair!", Trump exclaimed in a message posted today on his social network Truth Social in which he highlighted the good GDP growth data for the third quarter, released today, and also lamented that Wall Street has not reacted with euphoria to the figures, something he attributes to Powell's current monetary policy.

At an annual rate, the world's leading economy expanded by 4.3%, according to data released this Tuesday by the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA), a level above what analysts predicted and the highest since the third quarter of 2023. "Nowadays, when there is good news, the market goes down, because everyone thinks that interest rates will be raised immediately to control 'possible' inflation. This means that, in essence, we will never be able to have a market as buoyant as those of the time when our nation was being built and achieving greatness," he assured. Trump added that "robust markets, even exceptional markets, do not cause inflation; stupidity does!" "I want my new Federal Reserve chairman to lower interest rates if the markets are doing well, and not to destroy them for no reason," detailed the real estate magnate, who added that "inflation will control itself and, if not, we can always raise rates at the right time." In the coming weeks, Trump is expected to announce his candidate to replace Jerome Powell at the head of the Fed, with whom the president has strongly disagreed and whose term ends in May. Recently, the real estate magnate has said that he is debating between his current economic advisor, Kevin Hasset, and former Fed governor Kevin Warsh to lead the issuing entity starting in May.
