Miami (USA) (EFE).- Chris Paul reached an agreement to return to the Los Angeles Clippers, a team where he already played for six seasons in the NBA, after his contract with the San Antonio Spurs expired, with whom he played during the past season, according to ESPN.
The point guard, 40 years old and a twelve-time All-Star, will sign with the Los Angeles team for what is presumed to be his last season in the NBA, according to the same sources.
Paul hasn't yet achieved an NBA championship ring, and with the Clippers he will join a block of veteran stars made up of Kawhi Leonard, James Harden, and Bradley Beal, the latter recently incorporated as a free agent, who will aspire to achieve the first championship in the history of the franchise.
Chris Paul's 'last dance' with the Clippers
The point guard averaged 8.8 points per game, in addition to 7.4 assists, in his last season with the Spurs, where he served as a mentor to a team full of young players in full growth.
In his first stage with the Clippers (2011-2017), Paul never made it past the second round of the playoffs, despite being part of one of the most talented rosters in the franchise's history.
The Clippers finished fifth in the Western Conference last season, with 50 wins and 32 losses, and fell in the first round of the 'playoffs' after a close series with the Denver Nuggets that went to the seventh game.
Gold medal with the United States national team at the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympic Games, the former Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder player also reached the NBA Finals for the first time in his career in the 2020-2021 season with the Phoenix Suns, but his team fell to the Milwaukee Bucks (4-2).
