3-3. Real Madrid and Dortmund draw in Kroos' return to the Bernabéu

Madrid, June 7 (EFE).- Real Madrid legends and Borussia Dortmund legends drew (3-3) this Saturday in the twelfth edition of the "Corazón Classic Match" charity match held at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, in which Toni Kroos was the standout figure, returning to wear the shorts in what was his home 378 days later. On May 25, 2024, the German midfielder played his last professional match at the Santiago Bernabéu. After this, he won the Champions League, precisely against Dortmund, and retired from football after the European Championship in Germany.

And this Saturday he wore shorts for the first time since then, now as a member of the Real Madrid legends team.

A return that made him the main focus of attention for the fans, with ovations above the rest from his exit to warm-up.

Kroos kept a low profile on the pitch, until in the 36th minute his moment came to score again at the Bernabéu.

With the score at 1-2, after the goal in the 4th minute by a very active Julio Baptista in front of goal and those of Sven Bender, in the 16th, and Lucas Barrios, in the 22nd, a penalty on Marcelo gave Kroos the opportunity to score.

And he didn't waste it. Goal from the penalty spot to make it 2-2 and be even more of a protagonist on his return.

With the tie, halftime was reached in a match with a festive atmosphere and rhythm, the benefits of which will be allocated to the labor insertion program for young people at risk or social vulnerability from the age of 16, giving them tools and professional training before leaving the shelters; and to the socio-sports projects of the Real Madrid Foundation.

After going through the locker rooms, Raúl González Blanco, who recently ended his time as a coach in the Madrid youth academy after seven years - the last six at Real Madrid Castilla -, delighted his fans with a diving header for the 3-2 in the 54th minute.

Since then, Weidenfeller shone to prevent Pepe's goal and Dortmund managed to get the final draw, by Marcio Amoroso.

Furthermore, Toni Kroos received his final ovation. It was in the same minute he was substituted on May 25 against Betis, in the 84th. One more detail to honor the Real Madrid legend in a charity match marked by his return.
