Asunción (EFE).- The ASU2025 Junior Pan American Games, which Paraguay hosted from August 9 to 23 with the participation of delegations from 41 countries, generated $23 million in revenue and more than 200,000 visitors, government sources reported on Tuesday.

The competitions, the source added, projected the image of the country as an important tourist destination on the continent, "strengthening the boom in national tourism globally." For its part, the National Directorate of Migrations indicated in a statement that the country received 200,000 visitors who identified themselves as tourists during the days of the competition. “It’s a figure in which the Junior Pan American Games played a prominent role in attracting visitors from all over America and even other continents,” that office indicated. Paraguay received delegations from 69 countries The competition brought together a total of 4,014 athletes, of whom 318 were Paraguayan and 3,696 were foreigners, from 41 countries in the Americas, who competed in 28 sports and 42 disciplines. In total, the arrival of foreign visitors linked to the games reached the figure of 10,272 people from 69 countries, including athletes, technicians, logistical staff, authorities of the Panam Sports organization, the Olympic committees of the participating countries, as well as press, artists and family members. In 2024, the entry of 2.2 million tourists and day-trippers was calculated, contributing 766 million dollars to the local economy, according to a report from Senatur.
