The influencer and climber Balin Miller, 23, died during a live broadcast while climbing Mount El Capitan in Yosemite National Park, California, his family announced this Thursday.
A follower who had followed the journey for four days reported that she witnessed the accident through the online transmission. "He reached the top, but had to retrieve his backpacks, which had gotten stuck on a rock while he was hoisting them. While trying to retrieve them, he fell and died, all captured in the live transmission", she posted on social media.
Although the exact causes are unknown, his brother Dylan Miller said that Balin practiced solo climbing with a rope, a modality where the climber is protected by a rope but without a partner. It happened on the 730-meter route known as 'Sea of Dreams'. After completing the ascent, while collecting his equipment, he apparently descended beyond the limit of his rope, Dylan indicated.

Miller had distinguished himself in the world of mountaineering; in June he gained recognition for ascending the 'Slovak Direct' route of Mount McKinley, an incredibly difficult route that took him 56 hours.
