Bogotá, Colombia. – The Attorney General's Office executed an extinction of domain measure against the renowned Colombian singer Charlie Zaa, for alleged links with paramilitary groups. The seized assets, including the well-known El Oasis nightclub, are valued at more than 25,000 million pesos.
The legal action is based on statements contained in a file that links the artist, whose real name is Carlos Alberto Sánchez Ramírez, as an alleged frontman for members of paramilitary structures. One of the key testimonies, belonging to a former paramilitary member applying to the Justice and Peace system, directly points to the El Oasis shopping center in Girardot as part of the assets used to channel resources from these armed groups.
"We were in a shopping mall in Girardot, called El Oasis, later in prison I found out it was Charlie Zaa's," indicates the statement revealed by Semana magazine. The witness claims that monthly payments were made there, supposedly linked to the children of a well-known ex-paramilitary identified as Elías.
