Santo Domingo. - The Governor of the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD), Héctor Valdez Albizu, delivered the opening remarks for the XXVIII Interdepartmental Games 2025 of the Central Bank, a sporting event in which participating central bankers compete, fostering their camaraderie, which, together with effort and ingenuity, are constituent elements of central bank excellence.
Valdez Albizu expressed in his inaugural speech that "the importance of these games lies in the overcoming that forges our character, a palpable demonstration of human quality, the struggle to achieve goals, respect for the opponent and the team spirit that largely defines the essence of what we are."
Also, he announced that "for this year, we decided to dedicate a special tribute to the Dominican Olympic weightlifter, Beatriz Pirón, winner of multiple medals, including the gold and bronze from the Cali 2025 Pan American Games. We recognize Beatriz for her contributions to the country through weightlifting, excelling in this Olympic sport through a professional career with exemplary conduct, both inside and outside of competition."
In that vein, he added that "Beatriz stands out for her dedication, effort and discipline, added to the perseverance that has allowed her to participate in four Olympic Games representing the Dominican Republic, something simply extraordinary for an athlete, which makes her a national pride, worthy of admiration."
