At the meeting, held within the framework of BHD's participation in the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) 2026, Tony Raful, ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the Kingdom of Spain; Grey de Raful, the ambassador's wife; Steven Puig, president of Banco BHD; Josefina Navarro, senior vice president of Corporate Communication and Social Responsibility of Banco BHD; Ana Pilar Cochón, counselor in charge of the Commercial and Tourism Section; Antonio Castillo, counselor in charge of International Cooperation, and Alejandro González, communication and press advisor, participated.
“Dialogue with the Dominican Embassy in Spain is an essential stop we make every year within the framework of Fitur with the aim of contributing to the generation of positive impact for our country and promoting the development of tourism and investment. During lunch, Ambassador Raful highlighted the strength of the Dominican community in Spain, such as their desire for self-improvement and their entrepreneurial capacity. Likewise, he referred to business opportunities between the Dominican Republic and Spain. "From the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Spain, we have been developing an active agenda aimed at strengthening trade and investment relations between both countries, promoting spaces for dialogue and cooperation that allow us to take advantage of existing opportunities. We are promoting initiatives to publicize the competitive advantages that the Dominican Republic offers to Spanish investors, as well as its stability, its business climate and its potential in strategic sectors," said Ambassador Raful. The executives of Banco BHD discussed their financial education program, Finanzas Responsables BHD; they commented on the impact of the BHD Gender Strategy, primarily aimed at supporting the role of women in all areas, and explained the Mujeres que Cambian el Mundo Award, the social arm of said strategy, which consists of an annual award and a program of accompaniment and advice. "BHD has a tangible commitment to the Dominican diaspora, with whom we have been working for several years with different financial and non-financial initiatives. Our purpose of driving human progress knows no bounds," Navarro assured.
