Through dramatic recreations, archival material, expert testimonies and protagonists, the work shows how this sport went from being an emerging practice in sugar mills and coastal communities, to becoming one of the main platforms for the international projection of the Dominican Republic.
The documentary addresses the origins of baseball in Dominican territory, the consolidation of the first organized leagues and teams, the impact of baseball during the 20th century on social development, the professionalization of the sport, the arrival of the first Dominicans to the Major Leagues, the role of baseball as a driver of social mobility and the international expansion and current leadership of the Dominican Republic as a world power in baseball.
With an approximate duration of 75 minutes, the docudrama is designed for exhibition in cinemas, television, and digital platforms, projecting itself as a reference material on the history of the most emblematic sport in the country.
This production not only celebrates the past, but also invites reflection on the present and future impact of baseball in nation-building.
