Dublin.- Dublin Airport reported this Tuesday that it has canceled 42
flights due to the strong winds battering the island of Ireland following the arrival of Storm Bran.
Authorities in the Republic of Ireland indicated that all counties in the country will be under an orange alert today for different periods, due to the risk of heavy rain and winds.
A Dublin Airport spokesperson confirmed that 42 flights were canceled, "21 departures and 21 arrivals", around 07:00 GMT today and warned that there will be more cancellations during the day due to "the expected increase in wind speed".
The UK Met Office has also issued a yellow weather warning for Northern Ireland between 09:00 and 21:00 GMT today.
In addition to wind gusts, the rain can cause flooding and river overflows in the republic, after a week of constant rainfall.
The Irish Meteorological Office (Met Éireann) warned that the ground is "very saturated" and "any additional rain will likely result in surface and river flooding."
Authorities have also recommended avoiding coastal areas, while most ferries connecting the island of Ireland with Great Britain (Scotland, England, and Wales) have been canceled.
