The Islamist group Hamas urged all countries in the world to join tomorrow, Thursday, in a global strike in favor of Gaza and against "Zionist genocide and famine," according to a statement released today, Wednesday.
"We call for active participation in the global strike in support of Gaza tomorrow, Thursday, and to continue intensifying the global movement against the Zionist aggression, genocide, and famine against our people, as well as against the enemy's plans to occupy Gaza City," the group detailed.
In the text, Hamas urges to continue the international mobilization until Sunday 24 "in all cities, squares and capitals of the world", and calls the Israeli government's plans to invade Gaza City and displace a million Gazans a "new chapter in the war of extermination".
Israel has already called up 60,000 reservists for this new ground invasion, the Ministry of Defense confirmed today in a statement, and this figure is expected to increase in the coming days.
More than 62,000 Palestinians have been killed in 22 months of Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip, according to data from the Gazan Ministry of Health, although this figure could be conservative.
Furthermore, nearly two million Palestinians have been forcibly displaced, most multiple times, and since then the majority have been living in tents within a devastated Gaza.
