Heavy downpours due to trough would impact more than 20 provinces in DR, warns Indomet

Santo Domingo.– The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) warned this Saturday that a trough combined with the approach of a frontal system to the north of the country will continue to generate heavy showers, thunderstorms and wind gusts in a large part of the territory during the night of this Saturday and the early hours of Sunday morning. The institution reported that it maintains active meteorological alert levels, given the possibility of urban flooding, overflowing rivers, streams and ravines, as well as other events associated with the intense rainfall expected. According to the report, the most significant rainfall will be concentrated until the beginning of the night, affecting at least 20 provinces distributed in the north, northeast, southeast, Central Mountain Range and border area regions. Among the provinces with the highest probability of showers and thunderstorms are Puerto Plata, Espaillat, Hermanas Mirabal, Santiago, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, Santiago Rodríguez, Dajabón, Sánchez Ramírez, María Trinidad Sánchez, Duarte, San Cristóbal, San José de Ocoa, Samaná, Hato Mayor, El Seibo, La Altagracia, Azua, San Juan and Elías Piña.
