U.S. – The Executive Vice President of the National Council for Climate Change and Carbon Market (CNCCMC), Max Puig, participates in New York Climate Week 2025, one of the most relevant international forums on climate action, which brings together government, business, academic, and civil society leaders of the highest level.
From this Monday, Puig is in the Big Apple with the technical director of the CNCCMC and vice president of the COP, Sara González, to represent the Dominican Republic at this event, which takes place every year in parallel to the Session Period of the United Nations General Assembly.
Puig will also accompany the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, in the high-level events organized by the UN dedicated to sustainable development on the occasion of the General Assembly.
Puig highlighted the Dominican Republic's commitment to strengthening adaptation strategies, the just energy transition, the implementation of carbon markets at the national level, and the insertion of national projects into international markets, among other priorities.

In this regard, he explained that Climate Week "is a space where we share experiences and raise our voices so that the world understands that climate change is not a challenge of the future, but of the present."
Therefore, he assured that the Dominican Republic has reaffirmed its "determination to move towards a resilient and low-carbon development model".
The country's participation in this event is part of the preparations for COP30, to be held in 2025 in Belém do Pará, Brazil, and reinforces the Dominican Republic's regional leadership in promoting multilateral cooperation to address climate challenges.
Furthermore, the presence of Max Puig alongside the COP Vice-President, Sara González, solidifies the Caribbean nation's role as a committed and proactive actor in global debates on sustainability and resilience.
