Santo Domingo.- The City Council of Santo Domingo Este (ASDE) continues to carry out preventive work in the face of the incidents of storm Melissa that affects the country. Mayor Dío Astacio, together with various brigades and the operational directorates of the City Hall, are touring various points of the municipality, with the purpose of safeguarding lives by bringing security to thousands of families.
The SDE team has toured the sectors of Issfapol, Invivienda, Cancino Adentro, Los Trinitarios, Juan Pablo Duarte urbanization, Los Frailes, Av. del Faro, Villa Duarte, Alma Rosa I, Brisas, El Tamarindo, Las Lilas, among other communities, where the cleaning of canals, sewers and drainage systems is carried out, suction of stagnant water with motor pumps, pruning of trees, collection of debris and delivery of food rations, while keeping the shelters for families who need them open.
Astacio recommended residents to stay informed with official information and follow the recommendations of the authorities, as well as avoid throwing garbage or debris on the streets and rivers, store drinking water, canned food, drive respecting speed limits and call the ASDE emergency number 809-302-6400, in case of any eventuality. The emergency team of the Santo Domingo Este City Hall remains operational on the streets of the municipality and in constant coordination with national relief organizations, such as the fire department, the National Emergency Center (COE), and Civil Defense, to provide a rapid response to any dangerous situation.
Furthermore, he emphasized that this cleaning work is a collective responsibility that involves the municipalities.“We have been working preventively for a long time, trying to clean most of the possible systems, which amount to about 16 thousand systems that we have in the municipality and we do day-to-day cleanings of the most urgent to the most moderate”, Astacio expressed.
