Santo Domingo. - The Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) will hold an extraordinary meeting this Tuesday, January 6, at 10:00 a.m. (Eastern Time) and 15:00 GMT, in the Simón Bolívar hall of its headquarters, with the aim of analyzing the recent events recorded in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
The session will be broadcast live, with interpretation in Spanish, English, French and Portuguese. It will be held through the OAS official website, as well as on its Facebook and YouTube platforms.
The summons comes after Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro spent his first night detained in a United States prison. This, following a military operation that Washington described as "surgical" and that culminated in his capture in Caracas during the early hours of Saturday.

Maduro was transferred by helicopter to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where he will face charges of drug trafficking and terrorism.
