Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, stated today that "real conditions" exist for the war in Ukraine to continue in 2026 due to the stance of Kyiv and its European allies.
"NATO forces began preparations in a hurry for a confrontation with Russia in the 2030s. This policy generates real conditions to continue the war actions in the coming year, 2026," the minister affirmed before the high command of the Army and the Ministry of Defense of Russia.
To this end, he pointed out, "it is necessary to continue imposing our will on the enemy, act in advance, constantly improve the methods of war."

"It is necessary to continue destroying the defenses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, annihilating their military groupings," he added. "The key mission for the coming year lies in maintaining and increasing the pace of the offensive achieved," he stated, predicting as "inevitable" the collapse of enemy forces due to the unstoppable advance of Russian forces. Belousov highlighted that during 2025, Russian forces "reduced the military potential of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to a third," while "Kyiv has lost its ability to replenish its military groupings through the forced mobilization of its citizens." "In the end, what was evident from the beginning was confirmed: the collapse of the Ukrainian army's defenses is inevitable. Finally, even Kiev's Western sponsors have clearly understood this," he asserted.
