The Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, emphasized this Friday that the State of Palestine "is not just a concept", but also a "reality" that is embodied in political representatives such as its Minister of Foreign Affairs, Varsen Aghabekian.
In a press conference following the tenth Regional Forum of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), which took place in Barcelona, the minister emphasized how, in this meeting attended by 43 countries, Israel, represented by its chargé d'affaires in Spain, Dana Erlich, and Palestine, through the presence of Aghabekian, participated "on an equal footing".
The head of Spanish diplomacy defined as "hopeful" that these 43 countries advocate for dialogue and cooperation to "move forward together", instead of prioritizing "the law of the strongest".

After defending the two-state solution once again, he assured that Spain will always be "in the center" of the UfM to promote peace in the region. Minutes earlier, in fact, Albares signed, along with the Secretary General of the UfM, Nasser Kamel, a document for the headquarters of this institution to continue to be located in Barcelona.
