The reservoir was built during the government of former President Danilo Medina for the irrigation of nearby agricultural land. According to preliminary information, the deceased were bathing in the place, a frequent practice among people who reside or work in the area.
So far, the authorities have not been able to identify the victims, because none of those present managed to recognize them. In a video sent to this newsroom, part of the situation that occurred after the event is observed.

Several onlookers gathered at the scene, while, past 5:15 in the afternoon, no members of the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) or the Public Ministry had appeared to remove the bodies.
Unofficially, it is presumed that there could be a third deceased person; however, this information has not been confirmed by the corresponding authorities.
Authorities are expected to offer more details in the coming hours.
