ADA says there are enough chickens for the national market despite "natural decline"

The president of the Dominican Poultry Association (ADA), Pavel Concepción, assured this Monday that there is sufficient chicken production to supply the national market and that there is a reserve of that product of seven million frozen pounds, strategically created to respond to consumers in times of decline or high temperatures.

The president of the ADA acknowledged that there has been a natural decrease in supply, as a result of the high temperatures recorded in the country, but emphasized that all distribution channels are currently supplied.

"All channels are satisfied. There is a decrease in the supply of product due to the heat, we recognize that, but there is no shortage of chicken," he underlined. He stated that for this month there is an offer of 21 million pounds of chicken, in addition to the frozen reserve.

Pavel Concepción highlighted the role of planning in the stability of supply. "It is precisely the effect of the planning that the private sector has had together with the government authorities, which has allowed us to have today a strategic reserve of more than seven million pounds of chicken, in addition to a current availability of eight million pounds," he indicated.

Concepción affirmed that this coordination model has allowed for a stable supply, even in periods of seasonal pressure. "Production planning is precisely what has allowed us to have eight million pounds today, as we are announcing. That is the result of the joint work between the private sector and the authorities," she reiterated.

The ADA called on consumers to maintain confidence in market supply, specifying that large, medium and small producers are working to keep enough chicken on the market, at a fair price.
