Daddy Yankee sues his ex-wife for $12 million

San Juan, Puerto Rico.- El Cartel Records, Inc. and Los Cangris, Inc., presided over by Daddy Yankee, filed a lawsuit against the singer's ex-wife, Mireddys González, in the Federal Court of Puerto Rico this Wednesday for a sum of twelve million dollars.

According to the lawsuit, Gonzalez and his sister Ayeicha violated the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and the Stored Communications Act by accessing without authorization and destroying emails and documents from the corporations. "These actions were neither accidental nor negligent: they were calculated and executed precisely at the moment when the defendants were about to lose control of the legal entities, in the midst of litigation in the state court", the lawsuit indicates. The text indicates that the ex-wife and her sister "sabotaged fundamental operations" by deleting communications related to the multimillion-dollar sale of Daddy Yankee's music catalog and his 'La Última Vuelta World Tour' tour, among others. The dispute over the corporations began after the González sisters made transfers totaling one hundred million dollars in December 2024 from the corporate bank accounts to personal accounts of each party, without the artist's knowledge or authorization. The couple's separation was confirmed on those dates and the divorce became official on February 19th, after almost 30 years of marriage and two children together.

Since then, controversies in state courts have been frequent, and now they are reaching the federal forum. On May 30, Daddy Yankee, for example, requested that the civil contempt petition and a daily fine of $5,000 filed against him by his ex-wife be dismissed.
