Rains mark the beginning of this Sunday due to a trough

Santo Domingo. - Some rains mark the beginning of this Sunday from early hours, while the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET), predicts the continuity of local showers, due to the incidence of a weak trough, in addition to the influence of the warm and humid wind from the southeast, mainly over different provinces of the Caribbean coastal area, such as; La Altagracia, La Romana, San Pedro de Macorís, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, Gran Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Peravia, Azua, San José de Ocoa, San Juan, Elías Piña, Independencia and Barahona, among others. But, in the afternoon, due to a higher moisture content, in addition to the interaction of local effects associated with daytime heating and the orography of the national territory, rainfall will be more frequent and intense in the provinces mentioned above, as well as in other locations in the regions; northeast, northwest, the Central Mountain Range and the border area. What is expected for Monday is a predominant wind from the southeast direction and the local effects and also the indirect effects of a weak trough, will cause occasional clouds generating scattered precipitation of different intensities and frequencies during the morning in different towns near the southern coast of the country. While in the afternoon, until the early hours of the night, we foresee the occurrences of more local showers, isolated thunderstorms and possible wind gusts in different provinces of the country, mainly those located in the regions: northeast, southwest, northwest, Cordillera Central and the border area.
