Washington.- The U.S. State Department announced this Monday the revocation of visas for Nicaraguan citizens accused of facilitating the entry of "illegal immigrants" into U.S. territory.
"Investigations indicate that the entities representing these people facilitated transit through Nicaragua, due to the permissive migration policies of the Nicaraguan dictatorship, which destabilize the region and promote illegal immigration to the United States," the Department said in a statement, without specifying the identity of those sanctioned.

Among those affected by these sanctions, they mentioned the owners, executives, and senior officials of transportation companies, travel agencies, and tour operators that provide services to assist foreigners who, according to the Government, intend to "illegally immigrate" to the United States. This measure adds to the long list of anti-immigration policies of the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump, who, since his return to power, has focused on fulfilling his promise to drastically reduce migration to the United States. So far this year, the US Government has canceled more than 80,000 visas for various reasons. According to the State Department, half of the visas were canceled for assault, theft, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
