WASHINGTON. – The official draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup determined this Friday the twelve groups that will mark the beginning of the largest national team tournament in history, the first to feature 48 teams and three host countries: Mexico, Canada, and the United States.
From G to L, matches with Belgium, Spain, France, Argentina, Portugal, and England stand out, accompanied by teams from all continents, reflecting the global expansion of football and the new competitive format approved by FIFA.
The draw confirms an expanded, competitive tournament with a balanced distribution, where the main powers will have to show their hierarchy from the beginning against increasingly prepared rivals. The 2026 World Cup will be played between June and July 2026, marking a new page in the history of global football

The ceremony, held in Washington, distributed the national teams in a bracket marked by continental diversity, the presence of traditional powers, and the inclusion of emerging teams that will compete to make their way from a broader and more demanding group stage than in previous editions.
