Los Angeles. - The U.S. Department of Justice ordered the identification of alleged "domestic terrorists" and the creation of a list of targets and a cash reward system to encourage Americans to report alleged anti-American activities, according to the Los Angeles Times on Thursday.
U.S. Attorney Pam Bondi instructed the FBI to identify "domestic terrorists" who resort to violence, or threaten it, to promote political and social agendas that go against American, capitalist, or Christian values, according to a memorandum dated December 4 that the Los Angeles newspaper had access to.
The instruction is given after the creation of a new operational group "against domestic terrorism" and "organized violence", ordered by President Donald Trump, with the aim of pursuing what he called criminal groups of the "radical left".
Trump's measures against "domestic terrorism"
The text signed by the leader after the death of the ultra-conservative Charlie Kirk last September, asserts that the current political violence is the result of "sophisticated and organized campaigns of selective intimidation, radicalization, threats and violence, which seek to silence dissenting voices, limit political activity, influence political decisions and hinder" the functioning of a democratic society.
Trump's order instructs Joint Terrorism Task Forces (JTTF) and federal agencies such as the Department of Justice or the Department of the Treasury to dismantle financing networks that support these groups.
The Bondi memo notes that problematic "political and social agendas" could include "opposition to the law and the enforcement of immigration law, extreme views in favor of mass migration and the opening of borders.
The prosecutor has also requested that a reward system be developed to encourage the public to report suspects, but makes no reference to white supremacy.
