Las Terrenas, Samaná. – The Ministry of Housing and Buildings (MIVED) ordered the closure of Plaza Zehao, located on Boulevard Las Terrenas avenue, after verifying that the project was operating without a construction license or the technical inspections required by law.
The measure was executed through the Private Works Inspection Directorate (DIOP), which reported that the work had been notified and halted since November 4 for failing to comply with legal requirements. Subsequently, those responsible were summoned on November 6 to a conciliation hearing at the DIOP headquarters, which they did not attend.

Despite the stop order, the owners continued the work irregularly, mainly at night and on weekends, almost managing to conclude the construction. During a follow-up operation on illegal buildings carried out on December 10th, inspectors found that the plaza had already begun commercial operations. Given this situation, the establishment was notified via a bailiff on December 12th and, finally, closed on Monday, December 15th. The MIVED reiterated that all private works must have a license, supervision, and technical inspections to guarantee the safety of workers and users, and warned that it will continue to carry out operations throughout the national territory to combat illegal constructions.
