Indonesia sets sail with the hope of finding the last Spaniard lost in a shipwreck

Labuan Bajo (Indonesia).- Indonesian search teams set sail this Wednesday with the "hope" of being able to locate the last missing Spanish child after the shipwreck on December 26 of a tourist boat in which he was traveling with his family in the waters of the Komodo National Park, which leaves three fatalities -one adult and two minors-.

"We hope we can find them and complete the mission," Dimas, one of the rescuers, declared to EFE before departing from the port of Indonesia sets sail with the hope of finding the last Spaniard missing due to shipwreck from where part of the operation is coordinated. The device currently covers, among other areas, the waters north of Serai Island, where two bodies were found last week - that of a girl and an adult - and the north of Rinca, where a child and the hull of the sunken ship were found yesterday. The body of the third victim was found near the sunken ship about 7.48 nautical miles (about 14 kilometers) from the last location of the vessel before sinking, while the other two deceased were found at a shorter distance (between 1 and 2 kilometers) from the initial accident point.

The Search for the Last Missing Spaniard in Indonesia

This Wednesday, on the thirteenth day of the extensive deployment, the second extension announced by the Indonesian authorities on Sunday concludes, after finding the remains of a second Spaniard. If no result is achieved this last day, the authorities plan to meet this afternoon to analyze the data and decide whether to suspend or extend, for the third time, the mission. The tourist boat KM Putri Sakinah sank in the waters of Padar Island - in Komodo National Park - around 20:30 local time on December 26 (12:30 GMT), after which an initial search was activated with speedboats and later the operation was expanded. The last known location of the ship is between the islands of Padar and Rinca, an area known for its strong underwater currents. On board were 11 people, including a Spanish family made up of two adults and four children, of whom two were rescued - a woman and a girl - along with the four crew members and a local guide.
