Cuba informs airlines that it will run out of aviation fuel in 24 hours

Havana.- The Cuban government warned international airlines operating on the island that as of this Monday, the country is running out of aviation fuel due to the US oil siege. U.S. President Donald Trump signed a presidential order on January 29th that threatened tariffs on those countries that supplied oil to the Caribbean country, after alleging that the island was a national security threat to his country.

Cuba, which produces barely a third of its energy needs, announced this week a harsh emergency plan to try to subsist without crude and derivative imports, which included the end of diesel sales, the reduction of hospital and state office hours, and the closure of some hotels.
