February 14: Promoting well-being and education on European Sexual Health Day

Every February 14th, the European Day of Sexual Health is commemorated, a date dedicated to promoting education, prevention, and access to quality sexual health services throughout Europe.

Driven by the European Sexual Health Alliance, this day aims to raise awareness about the importance of sexual health as an integral part of people's physical, emotional, and social well-being. Sexual health is not limited solely to the absence of disease, but includes respect, adequate information, responsible decision-making, and access to prevention methods and specialized medical care. Public health experts highlight the relevance of comprehensive sex education from an early age to prevent sexually transmitted infections (STIs), unplanned pregnancies, and situations of violence or discrimination. During this day, health institutions, social organizations, and educational centers develop informative campaigns, workshops, and community activities aimed at promoting open and responsible dialogue about sexuality.

The central call of this commemoration is clear: guaranteeing universal access to information and safe and confidential sexual health services is fundamental to building healthier, more inclusive, and respectful societies.
