Santo Domingo. – The lawyer Ricardo Alcántara Méndez, legal representative of Germán Peña Jorge, one of the victims of the tragedy that occurred at the Jet Set nightclub, offered statements this Wednesday about the development of the coercion measure hearing against the artistic entrepreneur Antonio Espaillat.
Alcántara explained that at this moment the Public Ministry is formally presenting its request for a coercive measure, in which it asks for preventive prison, and that the process continues as established.

"Currently, the Public Ministry is presenting the request for the imposition of the coercive measure. We are waiting to follow the debates. As usual, the Public Ministry has its space, has its time, and we also have ours," he indicated. The jurist described the day as extensive due to the volume of evidence and the number of victims involved in the case, but he is confident that everything will conclude this Wednesday. "Today is a pretty long day for this imposition due to the accumulation and the number of victims we have, but let's hope to finish today," expressed Alcántara Méndez. He also maintained that there is sufficient evidence for the court to impose coercive measures against Espaillat, who is held responsible for the structural conditions of the premises where the tragic incident occurred.“There is enough evidence for a coercive measure to be known to Antonio Espaillat today. The Ministry Public started and we are behind them,” he assured.
The hearing, which began approximately 35 minutes ago, is still ongoing, and the victims' lawyers are waiting for the Public Prosecutor's Office to conclude its intervention to present their arguments to the court.
