MESCyT and ITLA award 350 national scholarships to students in STEAM careers

Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCyT) and the Technological Institute of the Americas (ITLA) delivered 350 national scholarships to young people from provinces of the country, with the aim of promoting training in academic programs, focused on STEAM careers (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics). This initiative seeks to support young people with high academic performance and potential to contribute to the progress of the nation. Minister Franklin García Fermín stated that these scholarships represent an investment in Dominican talent and a commitment to the youth that will transform the future of the nation: "Today we reaffirm our commitment to support young people in their academic and professional training, providing them with the necessary tools to face the challenges of an increasingly competitive world."

At the same time, he highlighted that the scholarships prioritize high-demand programs such as Software Development, Computer Security, Analytics and Data Science, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence and Multimedia, among others, responding to the needs of the productive sector and the Government's commitment to innovation and digital transformation. For his part, the rector of ITLA, Rafael Félix, stated that 350 young dreamers have been selected as beneficiaries of a MESCyT scholarship to train at ITLA.

“This is not only about recognizing his talent, but also about betting on the future, on his ability to improve the development and future of our country,” said Feliz.

Speaking on behalf of all scholarship recipients, Cristal Carreras thanked for the opportunity provided through the national scholarship, granted by the MESCyT, an initiative that will change the lives of each of the meritorious students. The beneficiaries were selected after a rigorous evaluation process that included academic merits, economic need, and commitment to the development of their communities. In addition, the scholars will receive accompaniment and guidance to ensure their academic and professional success from the higher institution.
