Naco attacker remains admitted to a medical center

Santo Domingo. – Jean Andrés Pumarol Fernández, 30 years old, identified as the perpetrator of the violent attack that shook the Dorado IV condominium in the Naco district, remains hospitalized and under strict police custody after being neutralized with a stun gun by agents of the National Police. According to the institution's spokesman, Colonel Diego Pesqueira, the incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon when Pumarol, armed with a sharp object, attacked several residents of the building.

During the attack, Yolanda Handal Abugabil, 70, died, while five other people were injured, including the attacker's own father, Guillermo Pumarol Castellanos. The other injured were identified as:
  • Teresa Fabián Heredia, caregiver of the deceased
  • Francisco Tezano
  • Griselda Ozuna
  • Victoria Heredia
The attacker, a resident on the fifth floor of the building, is said to have gone down several levels attacking those who opened their doors. So far, the authorities have not detailed the health status of the injured. The case has caused shock among the residents of Naco, a generally quiet area of the capital. The Public Ministry is expected to offer more details about the judicial process that Pumarol will face in the coming hours.
