The Public Ministry, in conjunction with the National Police and the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), activated this Tuesday Operation Jaguar, a broad offensive against a criminal structure dedicated to drug trafficking and other illicit activities, such as money laundering and international contract killing.
Backed by the Ministry of Defense and with the support of international organizations such as the DEA and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), 26 simultaneous raids were carried out in Cotuí, San Francisco de Macorís and Santiago, resulting in the arrest of 10 people linked to the network.
The operation mobilized 35 prosecutors and more than 300 security agents, including 63 members of the DNCD, more than 170 police officers and Air Force personnel. During the operations, the authorities seized key documents, electronic equipment, weapons, vehicles and cash, both in pesos and dollars.
