UASD condemns violent incident and calls for thorough investigation

Santo Domingo. – The Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) expressed its deep dismay at the incident that occurred on the afternoon of this Thursday on the campus of its Central Headquarters, where a shooting was recorded that left at least two security members injured.

In an official statement, the academy reported that the person responsible for the act was arrested and placed at the disposal of the competent authorities.

"We call on the National Police and the Public Ministry to conduct a thorough investigation to clarify the causes of this deplorable event and apply the full weight of the law to those responsible," the institution stated.

Likewise, UASD confirmed that the injured university servers are receiving medical attention, and ordered the temporary suspension of teaching activities at the Central Headquarters for the rest of the day, as a preventive and respectful measure in light of what happened. The university reiterated its commitment to the safety of its academic community and urged calm while official investigations proceed.
