SANTO DOMINGO. – Shortstop Jesús Madé, belonging to the Milwaukee Brewers organization, became this Wednesday the first selection of the Tigres del Licey in the Rookie Draft of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), with a view to the 2025-26 season.

Madé, just 18 years old, has caught attention in organized baseball for his combination of speed, defense, and offensive ability. Standing six feet one inch tall and weighing 181 pounds, he currently plays in Double-A with the Biloxi Shuckers, where he has an offensive line of .287 average, .383 OBP, 45 stolen bases, and 60 RBIs in two minor league circuits. Signed in January 2024 as an international free agent with a bonus of $950,000, Madé has quickly climbed the Brewers' system, advancing through Class-A, Advanced-A, and Double-A in just two years. His performance has earned him consideration as the number one prospect in the Milwaukee organization and number five overall in baseball, according to MLB.com. Scouting reports rate him with 60 power and arm, 55 speed and 50 defense, highlighting his projection as an impact shortstop in the near future. In addition, he has 73 stolen bases in 90 attempts in his first two professional seasons and has already participated in the MLB Futures Game. Originally from San Cristóbal, Dominican Republic, Madé represents a bet on the future for the blue team, which trusts that his talent and discipline can become an immediate contribution in winter baseball and, eventually, a figure in the national team. The 2025-26 LIDOM season will open on October 16, when the Tigres del Licey will host the Leones del Escogido at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium, starting at 7:30 PM.
