SANTO DOMINGO. – The Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) presented this Thursday a comprehensive technical and institutional report to the Consultative Commission in charge of evaluating the construction of a modern baseball stadium in the country, as part of the third meeting held at the league's offices in the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium.

The meeting, chaired by Dr. Jorge Subero Isa, responds to the presidential mandate established through decrees 306-25 and 378-25, and was attended by the president of LIDOM, Vitelio Mejía Ortiz, as well as the jurists Olivo Rodríguez Huertas, Angélica Noboa Pagán, Elka Scheker Mendoza and Edgar Torres Reynoso, executive director of the Commission. The report addressed five fundamental axes: legal and institutional aspects, stadium history, current situation of the facilities, commercial potential, and financial evaluation. Mejía Ortiz presented the legal and institutional analysis along with economic projections, including rental income, maintenance expenses, and the impact of Decree 129-11, in addition to the estimated costs to rebuild the Seventh Heaven area. In the historical component, technical director Jorge Torres Ocumárez reviewed key dates, original features, modifications, and international events held at the Quisqueya, as well as information about the Carlos “Teo” Cruz Coliseum. For his part, Valentín Contreras presented a visual diagnosis with images and videos that reflect the current conditions of the stadium, from offices and dugouts to sanitary areas, billboards, and parking lots. Following the meeting, the members of the Commission toured the stadium to see its condition firsthand. This session is part of the critical path for gathering information and documentation, a preliminary step to define the future of the new Quisqueya Stadium.
