LA ROMANA.- For the third consecutive season, veteran starting pitcher Matt Dermody will be wearing the Toros del Este jersey, as reported by the club's general manager, Jesús Mejía.

Last season, the lefty went 1-3, 3.05, with 39 strikeouts and 11 walks in 41.1 innings pitched. In both campaigns with the taurine uniform, Dermody has a record of 3-4, 2.74.
"He's a proven left-handed opener, he's been dominant in LIDOM, he's been here since day one. for the entire season and he's going to give us stability in the rotation," said Jesus Mejia at the time of the announcement.
Among starters with at least 50 combined innings pitched in the last two seasons, Dermody is third in ERA (2.74), in strikeouts (65), sixth in fewest walks allowed (18) and seventh in innings pitched (65.2).
The 35-year-old opener has Major League experience with the Blue Jays, Cubs, and Red Sox, and this summer, in the Mexican offensive league, the lefty pitched for the Tijuana Bulls, with whom he had a 3-3 record in nine starts, throwing a total of 42.2 innings. Dermody is the first reinforcement announced by the Toros del Este and will be joining a renewed roster that includes starting pitchers Sandberg Pimentel and Ronald Guzmán, left-handers José Manuel Fernández and Joely Rodríguez and right-handers Jesús Liranzo, Yohan Ramírez and Janser Lara acquired from free agency, as well as reliever Miguel Castro and outfielder Marco Luciano, who arrived via trade.
