MLB announces the 2026 season schedule: It will start on March 25

United States- Major League Baseball announced this Tuesday the official schedule for the 2026 regular season, which will begin on Wednesday, March 25 with a luxury opening game between the San Francisco Giants and the New York Yankees at Oracle Park. It will be the earliest start in the history of Major League Baseball for a traditional Opening Day, which will be complemented by a schedule of 14 games the following day, Thursday, March 26.

In the framework of the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States, the 96th All-Star Game will be played on July 14 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. It will be the first time that the modern stadium, inaugurated in 2004, hosts the mid-season classic and the return of this event to the city since 1996.

Interleague matchups and featured series

The league will maintain its style of interleague matchup rotation, with attractive duels such as:
  • Red Sox in St. Louis (April 10-12)
  • Dodgers at Yankee Stadium to open the second half (July 17-19)
  • Yankees at Wrigley Field (July 31-August 2)
  • Cubs at Fenway Park to close the campaign (September 25-27)
In addition, from May 15 to 17 a new “Rivalry Weekend” will be held, with clashes such as Yankees vs. Mets, Cubs vs. White Sox, Royals vs. Cardinals, Rangers vs. Astros, Orioles vs. Nationals and Angels vs. Dodgers.

Athletics between Sacramento and Las Vegas

The Oakland Athletics, who will play the entire season at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento, will also play two special series at Las Vegas Ballpark: from June 8 to 10 against the Brewers and from the 12th to the 14th against the Rockies.

Commemorative Dates

As every year, the 30 teams will be in action on emblematic MLB days:
  • Jackie Robinson Day – April 15
  • Lou Gehrig Day – June 2
  • Roberto Clemente Day – September 15
The Dodgers, Yankees, and Pirates will be at home for these commemorations. In addition, the Yankees will host the Mets (September 11-13) in a special series for the 25th anniversary of September 11.
