SANTO DOMINGO,.- The Argentine coach Néstor -Ché- García announced this Thursday the national pre-selection of senior basketball that will see action against the Puerto Rico selection, in the friendly match that will take place next Sunday, in the city of San Juan.

The meeting will serve as preparation for the Quisqueyan squad that will compete in the AmeriCup 2025 Championship, which will be held in Managua, Nicaragua, from August 22 to 31. The so-called "Caribbean Classic" between the eternal regional basketball rivals, Dominicans and Puerto Ricans, in another friendly match, will be this coming Sunday, the 17th. The game is scheduled for 8:00 PM, at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum, in the city of San Juan, Puerto Rico, the same venue as in the 2023 match. This activity is coordinated by the respective presidents of both National Basketball Federations, Rafael Uribe, for Quisqueya, and Yum Ramos, for Borinquen. Ché García's coaching staff includes a trilogy of first-rate figures with Dominicans David Díaz and Abraham Disla, and Argentine Martín Luis, his assistants. He informed that the players (14) who will make the trip to Puerto Rico for the friendly match are Andrés Feliz, Gelvis Solano, Richard Bautista -who joined the practices on Wednesday, Jassel Pérez, Juan Miguel Suero, Anyeuri Castillo, Ángel Núñez and Ángel Luis Delgado. As well as, Juan Guerrero, who joined the training sessions this Thursday, Anderson García, Eloy Vargas, Joel Soriano, Víctor Liz and Jean Montero. Dominican Republic is in Group C with Nicaragua, Argentina, and Colombia; in Group B, Panama, Venezuela, Canada, and Puerto Rico, and in Group A, the United States, Brazil, Uruguay, and the Bahamas. The Dominican team is preparing to compete in the 2025 AmeriCup Championship, which will be played at the Alexis Argüello sports complex in Managua, Nicaragua. This Thursday was the last day of preparation for the Criollos at the Training Court of the National Minibasket House in the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, as on Friday at 2:00 in the afternoon they will travel to Puerto Rican soil. The staff is led by General Manager Junior Páez (Jipy), who is also vice president of Fedombal; Carlos De León; in Operations; and trainer Adenauer Díaz (Rilling). The Santiago journalist Rolando Fermín Jr. will be in the press and Dr. Gewill Acosta, a doctor.
