SID Group promotes responsible consumption on International Plastic Bag Free Day

Santo Domingo. – In the framework of the International Plastic Bag Free Day, Grupo SID held an awareness campaign in nine partner branches, motivating a change in habits in favor of the environment and sustainability. As a symbolic act, the initiative consisted of the delivery of more than 10,000 reusable bags to customers who made purchases at the El Nacional, Amigo, City Market, Super Mix and Garrido supermarkets, regardless of the brands purchased. Each bag, illustrated with an exclusive art by the artist Kilia Llano, has a QR code that directs to an informative space on the Grupo SID website, where consumers can learn more about the importance of this day and the impact of the excessive use of single-use plastic bags. “Your decisions matter. Choose to reuse.” is the central message of this campaign, which highlights the importance of adopting more responsible consumption habits. During the day, relevant data was shared to raise awareness about this problem.

According to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), a plastic bag is used on average between 12 and 25 minutes, but can take between 500 and 1000 years to degrade, and less than 9% of these are recycled. In contrast, a reusable bag can replace up to 600 plastic bags during its useful life, contributing concretely to the reduction of waste and the care of ecosystems.

With this activity, Grupo SID reaffirms its commitment to sustainability and the promotion of responsible consumption, highlighting that change begins with small actions and that together we can build a more sustainable future.
