Pindstrup Group acquires La Mundial de Coco and will use the Dominican Republic as an agro-industrial hub

The European agro-industrial group Pindstrup Mosebrug A/S, an international leader in sustainable solutions for horticulture and professional agriculture, announced the acquisition of the Dominican company La Mundial de Coco, S.R.L., officially marking its entry into the Dominican Republic as part of its expansion strategy in the Americas and the strengthening of its global supply chain of sustainable agricultural inputs. The operation is part of Pindstrup Mosebrug's long-term commitment to the Dominican Republic as a strategic agro-industrial hub, taking advantage of its geographical location, logistical connectivity, availability of natural resources and human talent, as well as a favorable environment for foreign direct investment. Pindstrup Mosebrug is positioned among the leading companies in the sector that drive the development of more sustainable growing media solutions, based on circular economy principles and the use of renewable raw materials. In this context, the acquisition of La Mundial de Coco, combined with the expansions that the group has been carrying out in the production of wood fiber, opens up new opportunities for the development of high value-added agricultural substrates.

During the announcement, the CEO of Pindstrup Mosebrug A/S, René Gjerding, highlighted the strategic nature of the transaction and stated: “I am deeply grateful that the owner of La Mundial de Coco, Alberto Rosi, and his team have placed their trust in Pindstrup and allowed us to take over the management of this well-established company. This acquisition supports our growth trajectory and the green transition to which Pindstrup is fully committed. Our goal for 2028 is to reach 40% non-peat raw materials in our growing media, and we have already reached 34%. The products of La Mundial de Coco and their expansion potential represent a significant step towards setting even more ambitious goals and incorporating increasingly sustainable inputs into our solutions.”

Gjerding added that the Dominican Republic brings together exceptional conditions in terms of natural resources, human capital and regional connectivity, which makes it a strategic partner for the strengthening of the group's operations in the Americas. Unique in the industry, La Mundial de Coco, based in the province of María Trinidad Sánchez, has established itself as a relevant player in the processing of coconut fiber and agricultural byproducts, generating local employment and adding value to the national agro-industrial chain. Its incorporation into the Pindstrup Mosebrug group will strengthen its export vocation and fully integrate it into international supply chains. On his side, Alberto Rosi, founder of La Mundial de Coco, expressed that the company: "Feels very proud to join the Pindstrup Group, a widely respected player in the industry, whom we have come to know as a reliable company with a highly committed team. I am pleased to know that what we founded 30 years ago will continue to grow under the leadership of Pindstrup." The Vice Minister of Promotion of the Agroindustry of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs (MICM), Joaquín González, indicated that: "That a company with more than one hundred years of experience like Pindstrup bets on the Dominican Republic confirms that the country offers the right conditions to attract investment, knowledge and technology at the service of a modern and competitive agroindustry." The event also featured the participation of the senator for the province of Maria Trinidad Sanchez, Alexis Victoria Yeb; of the deputy Jorge Cavoli; of the provincial governor, Maria Lopez Polanco (Amada); and of the past president of the Eurochamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic, Jean Marco Pou, among other representatives of the public, business and institutional sectors, who agreed on highlighting the positive impact of this investment for local and sectoral development.
