Santo Domingo.– President Luis Abinader guaranteed this Wednesday that the Carlos “Teo” Cruz boxing coliseum is untouchable and will not be affected by the construction work of a new Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium in the Ensanche La Fe.
The president offered the guarantee during a phone call made to the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kelvin Cruz, after concluding an event to deliver equipment to the Boxing and Handball associations of the province of Santo Domingo, held in the James Rodríguez hall of Miderec.
"Don't get carried away by gossip, pay attention to what we say", the president expressed in his brief telephone conversation with Cruz, who minutes earlier had referred to the rumor about the possible damage to the coliseum, assuring those present that this facility will be preserved as a symbol of Dominican sports.

Start of a cycle
Cruz headed what he called a delivery cycle of supplies, starting with the Handball and Boxing associations of the province of Santo Domingo (PSD), represented by their respective presidents, José Carlos Agramonte Duval and Julio Recio, who separately thanked the official for the donation, stating that it will contribute to the development of those disciplines and of the athletes in the neighborhoods of the province. He recalled handball's successes in the recent past, as well as the countless contributions that boxing has historically made to the Dominican Republic in official multi-sport competitions such as the Central American and Caribbean Games, Pan American Games, and Olympic Games."With this contribution we go directly to the root, to the backbone, which are the clubs and neighborhoods, with the guarantee that this work agenda that we have started with the handball and boxing associations will be replicated permanently with the other disciplines that make up the Olympic organization chart of Dominican sports," Cruz expressed.
