Monte Plata – The mayor of Chirino, Balbarin Pimentel, held a meeting with representatives of the various institutions of the province of Monte Plata with the aim of finding solutions to the constant traffic accidents caused by loose animals on the Autovía del Nordeste.
During the meeting, which was attended by representatives of the Monte Plata Fiscal Attorney's Office, the General Directorate of Transit and Ground Transportation Safety (DIGESETT) and representatives of the National Police, a series of measures were agreed upon to address this problem.
Pimentel explained that all animals found wandering on the roads will be apprehended and moved to a designated area in the province of Hato Mayor. This space was chosen for being considered safe and under the supervision of trained personnel.

“We know it's a painful measure, but we seek to save lives and prevent accidents that mourn our communities,” declared the mayor.
To recover the animals, the owners must pay a fine and present the corresponding legal documentation that certifies the ownership of the animal and be duly declared before the Peace Court of the corresponding jurisdiction.
Likewise, a strategic commission was created to design and implement an action plan to eradicate this situation that has claimed lives in different locations in Monte Plata.
The authorities emphasized that these actions will apply to all animals found on the roads of Monte Plata, without exception.
