Rio de Janeiro.- Former President Jair Bolsonaro, convicted of coup-mongering, "continues stable and without hiccups this Sunday," but on Saturday night he again suffered a crisis of this type of involuntary contraction, doctors reported.
The leader of the Brazilian far-right also registered an increase in blood pressure, according to the latest medical report.
According to the doctors, the surgery to block the phrenic nerve is confirmed for this Monday, this time on the left side, "for a subsequent evaluation and results."
Initially, doctors tried to end the hiccup crisis without surgery, but faced with the severe crisis suffered on Friday night, they opted to perform, on Saturday, the blocking of the right side of the phrenic nerve, although the result so far was not effective.
The hiccups suffered by the former president, apparently, are derived from the knife attack he suffered during the 2018 election campaign.
For the time being, Bolsonaro continued this Sunday with the postoperative care of the inguinal hernia surgery he underwent at Christmas.
