"Congratulations, Nicky! Your alma mater is proud of this new achievement," added the Universidad de la Costa, which published a video of the artist receiving the diploma. The singer, upon giving an acceptance speech for the title, recalled that he comes from a neighborhood where many don't finish school, where many aren't alive, it's a very difficult neighborhood to grow up in.

"Being here for me is an honor. I have won Grammys, different awards and nothing is as rewarding as this recognition they are giving me here this afternoon. The reality of the situation is that many people think that money makes people in the neighborhood poor, but not having an education is what makes people in the neighborhood poor," he added.
