Santiago. - A deaf-mute man identified as Gustavo Disla, 50 years old, died after spending 13 days admitted to the José María Cabral y Báez hospital, after being shot in the left leg by a police officer in a confusing incident that occurred on Dos street in the Los Salados Viejo sector of Santiago.
According to the complaint of his sister, Dulce Bueno, the shot was fired by members of the Central Directorate of Criminal Investigations (Dicrim) and subsequently, the medical attention he received would have worsened his condition by contracting a bacteria in the hospital.
"They killed him twice: the Police and the inadequate treatment in the hospital," she expressed with indignation while demanding justice.
Family members deplored what they called inhumane treatment of the victim and pointed out that the act constitutes an abuse that should not go unpunished.
In the neighborhood, neighbors and relatives expressed consternation at the tragic outcome and joined the demands for a clear and transparent investigation to determine responsibilities both in the police action and in the medical attention received by the deceased.
The event occurred on August 18th of this year, while the police authorities have not commented on the incident.
