Santiago. - The Leonardo Da Vinci School announced the early suspension of classes and the closure of its educational facilities until January 2026, due to the growing social unrest over the death of the 11-year-old student Stephora Anne-Mircie Joseph, who died by drowning during a school excursion on November 14 in Gurabo, Santiago.
The measure, which advances the closure of academic activities by four days, was taken "for the tranquility of families and in consensus" with the Parents and Friends Association of the center (Apadavi), according to the school's management communicated to the educational community.
Also, Da Vinci reported that the grades will be delivered on Friday, December 12, thanking the parents for their understanding and assuring them that they will continue "at their disposal" despite the temporary suspension.

Following the tragedy, the private center has faced strong criticism for its institutional silence and the lack of clear information about what happened to the minor, of Haitian nationality. Almost a month after the event, family members and social sectors continue to demand official answers and clarification of responsibilities.
A father identified as Nelson, with a son enrolled in the school, stated that, although the students have followed their school schedule normally after the incident, he believes that it is up to the Public Ministry to explain the circumstances of the death.
The prosecuting body is keeping the investigation open and has only reported that it continues to gather evidence, promising to provide a detailed report later.
